She is an official missionary of the Soto Shu tradition of Zen Buddhism and the author of 20 books and promotes the principle of active non-violence and the culture of peace.
This special occasion was marked by a warm welcome from Jigme Tsering, the Executive Director of Tibet House Brasil and Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for Latin America. He greeted Monja Coen Roshi with a Khatag, a traditional white scarf symbolising respect and good fortune.
