
Sao Paulo: Raphael Viana David, the Programme Manager for China and Latin America at International Service for Human Rights (ISHR), led a delegation of Uyghur and Hong Kong activists to Tibet House Brasil in Sao Paulo, Brazil, from 26 to 27 May 2023.
The Human Rights Desk of the Office of Tibet in Geneva referred the group to the Office of Tibet in Latin America to raise awareness about the situation of these communities and their struggles for human rights.
During their visit to Tibet House Brasil, the delegation held a discussion with Gandhian Prof. Lia Diskin, a social worker and long-time friend of Tibet, and Tonia Van Acker, the Academic Director of Palas Athena, to build solidarity and support for their causes.
The group also met with the Secretary of Human Rights of Sao Paulo Prefeitura, Soninha Francine, expressing willingness from the governmental level to engage with violations of human rights issues encountered by Tibet, Uyghur and Hong Kong activists.
