Tokyo: The Office of Tibet Japan concluded its two-month Saturday Tibetan language and culture class today. The class was conducted in person as well as online.
The two-month Tibetan language class is an annual event organised by the office of Tibet House Japan, where Japanese and international students can learn the Tibetan language and some aspects of Tibetan history and culture. The students are introduced to basic Tibetan conversation, reading and writing.
Representative Dr Tsewang Gyalpo Arya thanked the students for taking an interest in the Tibetan language and advised the students to keep learning Tibetan to understand Tibetan culture and spiritual wisdom. Those having 80 percent attendance shall be awarded completion certification. The students expressed their satisfaction and shared their experience learning the Tibetan language.
At a simple conclusion ceremony, Representative Arya congratulated the students on the successful completion of the course and presented Tibetan scarfs, (khata) to those attending the ceremony in person at the office. Some students have come from as far as Shimane and Tochigi prefectures to participate in the closing function to show joy and appreciation.
The classes and the closing function were conducted as per covid-19 regulations prescribed by the local authority with minimum in-person and physical attendance.
Tashi Yangzom and Tselha taught and Hasegawa of the Tibet House Japan assisted in conducting the two-month language class.
The event concluded with the sharing of Tibetan butter tea, Tibetan noodles(Thukpa thenthuk), and meat bread (shabakleb) made by the staff and family members of the Tibet House Japan.
