Dharamshala: In order to create a welcome greeting for the delegates who attended the Compassionate Leadership Submit, coordinators of the Compassionate Leadership Summit Katy Seager and Geshe Dorjee Gyaltsen invited the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA) to perform a classical Tibetan song at the Hyatt Regency Dharamshala Resort on 8 October 2022.
During the welcoming event, TIPA’s Director Dhondup Tsering warmly greeted the delegates and provided a brief overview of the institute. Additionally, the traditional hand carving, “Ngonpa Bak,” was presented to the chief organiser, Katy Seager, Geshe Thupten Jinpa, and Geshe Dorjee Gyaltsen as a token of respect to show gratitude and appreciation. The significance of the traditional classical song, Nangma Toeshey, which artists and musicians performed, was briefly explained by Samten Dhondup to the gathering.
The audiences were overwhelmed and sincerely applauded the performances after witnessing the cultural song and dance. Moreover, they all pledged future assistance by offering connections to other cultures and financial support to keep Tibetan traditional art alive.
More than 40 eminent academics and professionals from around the world attended the event, including Geshe Thupten Jinpa, a Tibetan Buddhist scholar who serves as the Dalai Lama’s primary English translator.
