Meerut, 24th July 2021: The flame of Tibet’s freedom struggle has remained alive due to the constant support and help rendered by selfless individuals like Shri Kulbhushan Bakshi who was one of the ardent supporters of the Tibetan Cause. His contribution to the cause of Tibet is immense and huge. Under his leadership, Anterrashtriya Bharat Tibbat Sahyog Samiti (ABTSS), a Tibet Support Group based in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh was formed in 1996. He served as the President of ABTSS Meerut till his last day creating awareness and generating support for the Tibetan cause among the Indian masses on Tibbat Mukti Sadhna. Late Shri Bakshi was also an active National Co-Convener of the Core Group for Tibetan Cause – India, the apex body of Tibet Support Groups in India. The non-violent struggle for the Tibetan freedom movement and following the Gandhian philosophy was his ultimate key to achieve this struggle at the very end. For almost more than two decades, Shri Kulbhushan Bakshi had played a very active role in Tibet’s freedom struggle.
Remembering late Shri Kulbhushan Bakshi on his birth anniversary and reconnecting with Tibet Support Groups in the Meerut region and in further strengthening the Tibetan freedom movement, ITCO Coordinator Mr Jigmey Tsultrim and staff Tenzin Jorden along with National Co-Convener of Core Group for Tibetan Cause – India Shri Surendra Kumar attended late Shri Kulbhushan Bakshi’s birth anniversary program in Meerut. The program started with the offering of a butter lamp to the portrait of the late Shri Kulbhushan Bakshi. Shri Ravi Bakshi, son of late Shri Kulbhushan Bakshi and currently the Regional Convener for Western Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, Core Group for Tibetan Cause – India welcomed all the members for coming together on this occasion. He briefed the members about the activities and programs they have done so far in this time of Pandemic, and also spoke about the future programs in regard to the Tibetan movement.
ITCO-Coordinator Mr. Jigmey Tsultrim recalled his experience with late Shri Kulbhushan Bakshi and explained to the members about the webinars and programs conducted by ITCO and various Tibet Support Groups so far in the time of the pandemic. Shri Surendra Kumar in his address stressed that Tibet Support Groups should focus on how to strengthen this movement and what are new measures can be helpful in making the Tibet movement stronger and widespread. He also requested the members to garner support in providing Indian Highest Civilian Award “Bharat Ratna” to His Holiness the 14th Dalai and to invite His Holiness to the Indian Parliament.
Dr. D. K. Pal, President, ABTSS Meerut in his statement emphasized that in order to carry the Tibetan movement forward and to create awareness on importance of Tibet to India, the connection with Indian youth is a must and thus, the members need to initiate programs at schools, colleges and universities.
