Being introduced to the humpy bumpy mountainous terrain of Arunachal Pradesh, the first touch of cold in temperature and height in altitude, a brief halt at Tenzingang was helpful not only in acclimatizing but also an insight to the introduction of arrivals of Tibetan Refugees in India in general and Tenzingang in particular with its establishment in 1972. Office Secretary while greeting the Yatris introduced about the composition of Tenzingang Settlement – its challenges, resources of livelihood and hopes of future stability. The Yatris were also blessed by prayers of Chief Administrator Ven. Norbu Damdul of Gyuto Monastery.
Followed by this, Yatris then left for Bomdila through Shergaon, Jigaon and halted for the night at Bomdila, headquarter of West Kameng District, Arunachal Pradesh. Even if Yatris arrived quite late, before they gathered for dinner, as planned, a seminar was also designed to understand the significance of BTSM towards the quest of Tibbat Mukti Abhiyan or Tibet’s Freedom.
The seminar was organized at the convention hall of Gentse Gaden Rabgyeling Monastery otherwise popularly known as Upper Monastery, Bomdila. Speaking at the event, Sh. Pankaj Goyal gave a thorough background of BTSM from its sapling to plant and plant to fruit. He acknowledged all the hard works of its members through these 20 years since its inception and offered gratitude to Sh. Indresh Kumar for his vision and patriotism that he has taught them the path to lead on. Sh. Goyal didn’t even miss the opportunity to strike harder upon the ill wishes of the Chinese Communist government for applying various mechanisms to hamper India’s growth of prosperity and harmony. He sought the vows from the Yatris that they may not engage purposely in purchasing Chinese goods as this attempt will directly influence the economy of China.
Sh. Goyal assured that BTSM will not remain idle, soft and silent until the issue of Tibet being not resolved. He recalled of past decades when Indians don’t require passport, visa and permission to visit and offer prayers at Kailash Mansarovar but now it is being made into effect by the Chinese government after the unlawful occupation of Tibet and also of incursion into the territories of India.
Coordinator for ITCO, reminded the Yatris of Tibet’s past, present and future. He added with more significance as to what BTSM has contributed towards the amplifying of Tibet’s issue whereas he also sought the attention of Tawang Yatris to reach out other organizations for what those respective members have also contributed upon this same path.
Taking this opportunity, Office Secretary cum Coordinator for Tibetan Peoples at Bomdila, Mr Chisa Tselha welcomed all the Yatris with traditional Tibetan scarves and introduced about the daily challenges, livelihood opportunities and hopes of Tibetan refugees living in and around Bomdila. He was accompanied by Mr Yarphel, President, BRDL, Bomdila.
