
Dharamshala: The 8th intensive Tibetan language and Buddhist philosophy course for Tibetan college graduates was inaugurated at Gyudmey monastery in Rabgayling Tibetan settlement, Hunsur on 16 August. The six-month course is a joint initiative of the Central Tibetan Administration’s Department of Religion and Culture, and Gyudmey monastery.
The chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the six-month course was Khen Rinpoche Jetsun Tenzin Sangpo of Gyudmey Monastery. Other guests include Migyur Dorjee, member of Tibetan Parliament, Thupten Tsering, Settlement Officer of Rabgayling who is also officiating as the representative of Department of Religion and Culture, Jetsun Ngawang Sangay, chant master of Gyudmey monastery, as well as the principal and administrators of the monastery.
The inaugural ceremony emphasised the paramount importance of Tibetan religion and culture and the crucial need to preserve and promote it.
A total of twenty-eight students have already arrived safely in Hunsur on 1 August to take part in the six month course. The course will begin once the students complete the mandatory 14-day quarantine period and test negative to COVID 19.
The six-month course will conclude on 31 January. The objective of the course is to acquaint Tibetan youth with Tibetan Buddhist philosophy, the five major treatises and Tibetan grammar, prose, and poetry.
