Dharamshala: The Department of Education, Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), and the Palampur Science Centre (a unit of National Council of Science Museum) have jointly launched a five-day Science Lab in-service workshop, running from 16 to 20 September 2024. This workshop aims to enhance hands-on learning in school science laboratories. While the CTA’s Department of Education is working to upgrade laboratory facilities, it is equally crucial to advance the professional development of science lab in-charges.
The workshop’s inaugural was attended by Dr Sudesh Kumar Yadav, Director of CSIR-IHBT, as the chief guest, and Karma Sherab, Principal of TCV Gopalpur, as the guest of honour.
During the opening ceremony, the Curator of Palampur Science Centre, Ram Swaroop, delivered a welcome address while Dorjee Wangdue, the Science Education Officer of Department of Education, succinctly presented overview of the workshop.
22 Tibetan secondary and senior secondary schools across India participated in this workshop.
Organised in collaboration with the Palampur Science Centre, this workshop will offer both practical and theoretical sessions. The program is designed to improve laboratory skills, foster a scientific mindset among students, and address essential topics such as laboratory management, equipment operation, and safety protocols.
This workshop is funded by USAID through The Tibet Fund.
