Ladakh: The Women’s Empowerment Desk (WED) carried out an official visit to the Sonamling Tibetan Settlement in Ladakh from 15 to 19 September 2025.

As part of the visit, WED organised a series of workshops aimed at raising awareness on gender equality and the prevention of gender-based violence (GBV). These included a two-day SGBV Committee Workshop for members of the settlement’s SGBV committee, a one-day gender sensitisation workshop for camp leaders and local stakeholders, and a two-day gender workshop for 10th-grade students of TCV Ladakh.

The sessions highlighted the important role of schools and communities in preventing, prohibiting, and redressing GBV. These initiatives are crucial in building safe, inclusive, and supportive environments for all members of the Tibetan community.
