Dharamshala: “Women Empowerment Desk(WED) under SARD, Department of Finance of CTA have presented to TCV Gopalpur school five sets of mechanical sanitary vending machines for installation at the school to be used by school girls as a part of WED’s pilot menstrual health and hygiene management program. It also presented to the school around 1300 pieces of biodegradable pads to be put into these vending machines along with 50 copies of Menstrupedia comics which is reading material on menstruation. These comic books will be placed in the school library. These products were received by Junior principal Sangpo who was present at the school, heading the coaching class for class X and XII students. The objective of this activity is to create awareness of the importance of menstrual health, to make menstrual products accessible to school girls and also to switch to more eco-friendly menstrual products.
Similarly, two sanitary vending machines and 400 pieces of biodegradable pads has been received by Namgyal senior secondary (NSS) school in KTM, Nepal. While around 1200 pieces of the same pads and 40 Menstrupedia comic books are en route via post to NSS School.”
