London, 18 July 2022: As part of the first day of engagements in London, the visiting delegation headed by Zeekgyab Rinpoche, Abbot of Tashi Lhunpo Monastery on Monday visited the London-based Office of Tibet where Rinpoche gave media interviews.
In the afternoon, they visited the Tibetan Peace Garden upon the invitation of Lelung Dharma Centre where Rinpoche consecrated the monument site, following the tradition of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and many other visiting Tibetan Rinpoches before him. Lelung Centre’s Tsering Passang gave a detailed tour of the site while explaining the project conception, history and people involved in bringing the project to fruition. A short visit to the Imperial War Museum next door was squeezed in too. This was followed by a visit to the Jamyang Buddhist Centre as guests of Resident Teacher Geshe Namdak with whom Rinpoche had some interesting discussions. Geshe Namdak gave a private tour of the Centre.
Later in the day, Rinpoche delivered a public talk hosted by the UK-based Tibet support group Free Tibet on ‘The future of Tibetan Buddhism: What role can we play in protecting the independence of Tibetan Buddhism’ which was live-steamed.
