Under Secretary Ugyen Choedon Assumes Charge as New Tibetan Settlement Officer of Kumrao

Kamrao: The official handover ceremony between outgoing Settlement Officer Tenzin Rinchen and incoming Settlement Officer Ugyen Choedon was held at the Kamrao Tibetan Settlement Office on 30 April 2025. The ceremony commenced at 10:00 a.m. under the supervision of Tenzin Namgyal, Settlement Officer of Sakya Puruwala, who served as the official witness representing the Department of Home, Central Tibetan Administration. The transfer of office inventory and official documents were carried out during the proceedings.

The event was attended by key local officials, including Vice-President of the Local Tibetan Assembly (LTA) Lobsang, the LTA Accountant, and members of the Gapa Welfare Society. In keeping with tradition, both the outgoing and incoming Tibetan Settlement Officers (TSOs) were presented with ceremonial scarves (khatas).

Following the handover, a public gathering was held at 12:00 p.m. in the LTA Hall. During the gathering, the outgoing and incoming TSOs, the official witness, and local dignitaries addressed the residents of the settlement.
