
Dharamshala: The Manali Tibetan Settlement held a formal handing-over and taking-over ceremony between its new Settlement Office, Tenzin Namgyal, and outgoing Settlement Officer, Tenzin Tsultem, on 21 July 2026.
During the morning session, the official handover of office documents, accounts and inventories took place in the presence of the Chief Representative Officer (CRO) of Shimla, Lhakpa Tsering, who attended as the official witness on behalf of the Department of Home, Central Tibetan Administration.
On 22 July, at the gathering of the local public, outgoing Settlement Officer Tenzin Tsultrim gave a brief introduction of incoming Settlement Officer Tenzin Namgyal, and also shared reflections on his own experiences during his tenure in office.
The incoming Settlement Officer, Tenzin Namgyal, spoke about the responsibilities of the Settlement Office and emphasised the importance of support and cooperation from local officials and the public. He remarked that if everyone worked together in a spirit of mutual cooperation, it would contribute to the effective functioning of the Settlement Office and bring positive results for the community.
Following this, witness CRO Lhakpa Tsering addressed the gathering and shared words based on his personal experience. He also briefed the attendees on the completed and ongoing projects in various Tibetan settlements. Afterwards, the participants toured the completed and ongoing projects in the settlement and visited local schools and monasteries.
At 10:00 a.m. on 23 July 2026, the outgoing Settlement Officer formally introduced the newly appointed Settlement Officer to Kullu Deputy Commissioner Shri Anurag Chander Sharma, IAS; Superintendent of Police Shri Madan Lal, HPS; SDM Manali Shri Gunjeet Singh Cheema, HAS; and other concerned Indian government officials. With this, the three-day handover process between the outgoing and incoming Settlement Officers was successfully concluded.
