Dharamshala: On 6 January 2026, the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA) presented traditional Tibetan cultural songs and performances at a special event, marking two important occasions: the successful completion of the Precious and Profound Nyingma Kama bestowed by Kyabje Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche, and the completion of 60 glorious years since the founding of Ogyen Mindrolling Monastery in the noble land of India.
Ogyen Mindrolling Monastery is located in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, in northern India. At the kind request of Mindrolling Jetsun Khandro Rinpoche, TIPA was invited to perform at this auspicious occasion.
A group of 35 members—including instructors, teachers, and artists—led by Director Dhondup Tsering, traveled to participate despite the institution’s winter break. This allowed the young artists, in particular, to experience the rare opportunity to pay respects at the reliquary of Kyabje Mindrolling Trichen Rinpoche, receive blessings and teachings from Kyabje Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche and Jetsun Khandro Rinpoche, and visit the Mindrolling Monastery.
The main celebration was held on the evening of 6 January at 7:00 PM. The chief guests included Kyabje Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche, Kyabje Khorchen Rinpoche, and Mindrolling Jetsun Khandro Rinpoche, along with many high lamas, monks, nuns, and more than 3,000 devoted Buddhist practitioners from different regions.
Following welcome remarks by Lama Tenzin Kyab, the Joint Secretary of the Mindrolling Organising Committee, and a brief introduction by the Director of TIPA, the TIPA artists offered traditional Tibetan cultural songs and performances. The audience—including eminent lamas and thousands of practitioners—responded with great joy and warm applause.
According to the participating TIPA artists, “It was a great honour to present Tibet’s unique cultural heritage before such distinguished religious leaders and a large gathering of devotees at the beginning of the new year. The occasion was regarded as highly auspicious, symbolising the overcoming of obstacles through merit and purification.”
“The Organising Committee of Ogyen Mindrolling, under the guidance of Joint Secretary Lama Tenzin Kyab, made excellent arrangements for accommodation and meals for all TIPA artists and staff. On behalf of all members, TIPA expressed its heartfelt gratitude and looks forward to similar opportunities in the future.”
