New Delhi: Tibetans around the globe today are observing the 63rd anniversary of Tibetan Uprising Day in a peaceful demonstration against China’s occupation of Tibet and the oppression of Tibetans inside Tibet.
As the Central Tibetan Administration leads the commemoration of the eventful day, Tibetan settlements in exile and abroad also commemorate the occasion in solidarity and strength.
Tibetans in Samyeling Tibetan settlement, New Delhi commemorated the event led by Representative Dongchung Ngodup of Delhi based Tibet Bureau as the Chief Guest. Other guests include representatives of the government and non-governmental organisations.
Tibetans in the Phendeling settlement observed the commemoration of the event at the Shedrupling monastery.
The official gathering was attended by Settlement Officer Tenzin Dadon, Chair of the Local Tibetan Assembly Sangey Tenzin, representatives from the local monasteries, teachers and students of local Tibetan school.
The gathering observed a moment of silence in the memory and honour of Tibetan martyrs. This was followed by a reading of statements from the Kashag and Tibetan Parliament.
The Kullu Tibetan Administration led exile Tibetans in Kullu Distt. observed the 63rd Tibetan National Uprising Day with a peace march from Kullu RamShila Bridge to Kullu Dhalpur ground followed by a minute mourning for the sacrifices made by Tibetan martyrs.
The event was attended by the Indo-Tibetan Friendship Society member Shri Pema Namgyal, Shri. Hira Lal Thakur, Advocate Shri Dalip Singh Thakur, Kullu Press Club President Shri Dhanesh Gautam along with the Tibetan Local Tibetan President, Settlement officer and member BRDL member, representatives of Tibetan NGOs, and the Tibetan residents of Kullu Distt.
LTA President Dorjee Chophel and Settlement officer Thupten Chophel read out the statements of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile and The Kashag respectively.
The Tibetan Community in France and five NGOs have observed the 63rd commemoration of the Tibetan National Uprising Day at Place des Martyrs near the Eiffel Tower. More than 600 Tibetan and French people have attended the event.
Dignitaries that attended include Senator André Gatollin, Vice President of Tibet Support Group at French Senate, Madam Céline Coudriou, the President of Amnesty International, to show their support and solidarity with the Tibetan people.
Parliamentarian Thupten Gyatso, President of the Tibetan Community Karma Thinlay, executive members of the Tibetan Community, and five NGOs led the peace march from Place des Martyrs to the Chinese Embassy in Paris.
The Mayor Office of Paris District 11, the Belfort Mayor Office, and the Mayor Office of Saint Gratien hoisted the Tibetan National flag to show their support and solidarity with Tibetan People.
The Tibetan Association and Tibet Support Group in Strasbourg, Amiens and Toulouse in France have also observed the 63rd Tibetan National Uprising Day by organising a peaceful march and candlelight vigil.
