Dharamshala: To celebrate the 75 years of India’s Independence, around 60 Tibetans from Phuntsokling Tibetan Settlement in Dalhousie participated in a tree-planting activity to reforest the areas near Paramdam Dalhousie and Dalhousie Public School which witnessed wild forest fires in May of this year to prevent climatic repercussions in the region like drying up of underground water and increased temperatures.
The group consisting of Settlement Officer and staff of TSO, members of UMAYLAM, Regional Tibetan Youth Association and Regional Tibetan Women Association, and Tibetan residents, have planted 310 at Paramdam Dalhousie. The team sought 520 tree shoots from the local based NGO Ramaniya Dalhousie.
Several miles away from Dalhousie, Tibetans in Bir settlement observed the occasion by hosting the chief guest Madam Nigesh Thakur, Bir Chougan Pradhan, who hoisted the Indian national flag and addressed the gathering during the celebration.
Similarly, Tibetan Community in Delhi celebrates the 75th Independence day of India on 15th august 2022 rejoicing with pride and dignity as Indian brothers and sisters across the globe mark this important day in Indian history.
In Samyeling, the function started by gathering the public at the day School ground Samyeling and performing the Indian national anthem by the day school students and chief guest Shri Parlad Singh Sawhney MLA Chandni chowk, Vidhan Sabha raised the tri-colour Indian National flag in the presence of TSO secretary Jigme Tseten, FTM President Thupten la, representative of RWA, Budh Vihar, Tibetan Youth Congress Delhi, RTWA Delhi and many other NGOs.
The representative of Bureau Office Delhi, Joint Secretary Sangmo and staff, Former deputy speaker of Tibetan Parliament in Exile, Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok as the special guest and also address the public
Tibetans in Kullu along with local President Pushpa Devi commemorated the occasion with a brief ceremony. Likewise, Tibetans in Poanta invited Vivek Mahajan SDM as the chief guest and other distinguished guests including་ Bir Bahadur DSP, Ved Prakash Tehsildar, Nirmal Kaur, Chairman MC, Ravi Joshi, BDO, OP Kataria, Vice Chairman MC attended the ceremonial event with a gala dinner and cultural performances.
Furthermore, as per the invitation received from the Office of Deputy Commissioner, Government of Meghalaya, The Tibetan settlement officer attended the state official program on the 15 August, 2022 at the Polo Ground, Shillong.
Puruwala Tibetan Settlement office organised 75th Independence Day Eve on 14th August 2022 at Sakya Tibetan Settlement Hall. Mr. Kunal Angrish (DFO) Paonta Sahib was Chief Guest of the day Abbot of Sakya Tibetan Institute Puruwala, Village Pardhan, Indo Tibetan Friendship members, and Indian officials; Tibetan officials and staff were the other guests.
The official function was started with the hoisting of the Indian National flag by the Chief Guest followed by the Indian national anthem with the Puruwala Shambhota School band.
Settlement Officer Mr. Tenzin Lekshey addressed the gathering. He thanked the Indian Government and the public for their unwavering support and generous hospitality to the Tibetans living in India.
Chief Guest Mr. Kunal addressed the gathering and said that Tibetans are Indian special guests (Atithi Devo Bhawa) and true friends of India.
The celebration was followed by giving mementoes to the Chief guest by Abbot of the Sakya Tibetan Institute Puruwala as an act of gratitude. Puruwala Sambhota School children performed a number of Tibetan cultural dances and Hindi patriotic songs.
In Miao Choepheling settlement, the settlement leadership and the Tibetan residents distributed refreshments and snacks to the gathering attending the carnival parade on Independence day. In attendance were a number of prominent figures and dignitaries including officials of the government bodies.
