
Dr Tsewang Phuntsok Highlights Buddha’s Teachings at 2569th Vesak Buddha Purnima Celebration in Dehradun
Dehradun: Dr Tsewang Phuntsok, Tibetan Settlement Officer (TSO) Dehradun, attended as Chief Guest for the celebration of commemorating 2569th Vesak Buddha Purnima Mahotsav held at IRDT Auditorium, near Survey Chowk, Dehradun, on 12 May 2025 as invited by Doon Buddhist Committee.
The event was also attended by Brigadier K G Behl, former Deputy General Surveyor, Survey of India, and Dawa Shaurya Chakra, retired Special Frontier Force, as Guest of Honour, Tsering Dorjee, former member of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, other Tibetan community leaders and performers around Dehradun and Indian guests.
In his address, Tsewang’s speech underscored appreciation for the Tibetan communities’ involvement and the Doon Buddhist Committee for organising such an event, establishing space for fostering religious harmony. He praised the enduring relevance of Buddha’s teaching in today’s turbulent world. In an age of division and despair, Buddha’s message of compassion is more vital than ever. He connected the event with the four commitments of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Concluding his speech, he asserted the importance of studying and practising Buddha’s teaching and briefly stressed the lack of religious freedom inside Tibet.
The program started at 3:15 PM and ended around 7:30 PM, followed by Nagar Parikrama for World Peace.
