
Dehradhun: Tibetan Settlement Officer, Dr Tsewang Phuntsok, attended the World Minorities Rights Day. He was accompanied by the camp leaders of Gephelling and Tsering Dhonden, along with members of the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress and the Regional Women’s Association of Dekyling.
The United Nations declared 18 December as World Minorities Rights Day in 1992 to promote the rights of minorities. The Uttarakhand Minority Commission organised the event at the Himalayan Cultural Centre, Dehradun, at the state level on 18 December 2025. The function was graced by Shri Puskar Singh Dhami, the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, as the chief guest of the celebration. The other dignitaries presented in the occasion were Uttarakhand Minority Commission Representatives, including Farzana Begum, Vice-Chairperson of the commission, Dr R.K. Jain, Former Chairman, Uttarakhand Minority Commission, Dr Narendrajit Bindra, former chairman of the Uttarakhand Commission for Minorities and other dignitaries.
The Settlement Officer, Dr Tsewang Phuntsok, greeted them with traditional Tibetan scarves to strengthen the tie.
