Vienna, Austria: On 16 May 2026, the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA) organised a contemporary music event, “A-ka-Ma’s Symphony,” at the Wahringerstraße Hall in Vienna, Austria. More than 300 guests, including international dignitaries and local Tibetan community members, attended the event.
At the beginning of the concert, the President of the Tibetan Association in Austria greeted and briefly introduced the need and purpose of the A-Ka-Ma concert. Afterwards, the Director of the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts stated that this time, after 35 years, the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts was able to physically visit Austria as part of its cultural tour in Europe, and during its two-week stay in the area, the institute expressed high appreciation and support for the Tibetan performing arts programmes, opera, and A-Ka-Ma concert, and made a significant donation, for which they expressed gratitude and appreciation. Additionally, he welcomed the main guests of A-Ka-Ma concert, the renowned Austrian musician Hubert Von Goisern, and his wife, who had been invited as the main guests, and conveyed his greetings, noting that he is an old friend who has always been interested and supportive of the Tibetan cause, and had provided assistance during the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts’ cultural tour to Austria in the 1990s, for which he thanked him and requested his continued support in inviting the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts to participate in important international cultural festivals in the future.
He continued, saying, “I would like to express my gratitude to the Office of Tibet – Geneva and the Austrian Tibetan Association for organising this music event. Today, 26 artists from the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts are visiting Austria for the first time in 35 years. Although we had planned a tour of several locations in the region, due to difficulties in securing venues on time, we were unable to meet our initial targets. However, I would like to thank the people for their high level of support. In the future, we will make efforts to visit again with a well-planned schedule. We hope to receive continued support from everyone.”
After these remarks, the artists from the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts performed the “A-Ka-Ma” music and dance, and Austrian singer Christian – Musik Grenz’Los and Austrian Tibetan Tina Tenzin Wangmo also joined in, performing a few songs. The audience was very enthusiastic about the “A-Ka-Ma” music and dance performance, applauding and cheering. Everyone stood up and joined in the dance, showing great respect and appreciation, thus making the music event a great success. Finally, the director of the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts presented thank-you scarves and commemorative gifts to the vice-president of the Tibetan Association and some guests. After the music event, in response to the people’s desire, the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts performed the traditional Tibetan circle dance with music, and everyone joined in with joy.
