Chile: On 8 August 2025, the Universidad de Tarapacá in Arica hosted Kalon (Minister) Norzin Dolma of the Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR) of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) for a public talk titled “Echoes of Tibet: Sustaining Identity Through Culture and Tradition in Exile.” The event was well attended by general public and the education community. Kalon spoke about the resilience of the Tibetan people in preserving their language, traditions, and spiritual heritage despite decades in exile.
Kalon further emphasised the importance of His Holiness’s reincarnation, referring to his July 2025 announcement reaffirming that the Dalai Lama Trust in India holds sole responsibility for matters concerning his reincarnation—thereby safeguarding the authenticity of the Tibetan spiritual tradition.
Deputy Vlado Mirosevic of the Chilean Chamber of Deputies delivered introductory remarks on Chilean–Tibetan relations, highlighting His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s three visits to Chile and noting the collaboration of Chilean scientists conference and SEE Learning program.
The event concluded with a lively Q&A session on Tibet’s current challenges, global advocacy, and the vital role of international solidarity.
The morning began with monks from Drepung Loseling Monastery constructing an Avalokiteshvara Sand Mandala, accompanied by traditional Tibetan Buddhist rituals. Many residents of Arica participated, offering prayers and dedicating the mandala to His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday, with aspirations for world peace and harmony.
