
Canberra: Former Australian Senator Dr Bob Brown was awarded the Sydney Peace Foundation’s prestigious 2026 Gold Medal for Human Rights in recognition of his lifelong commitment to environmental and social justice, and his leadership in protecting nature and promoting a sustainable world at a ceremony held at the State Library of New South Wales on Friday, 24 July 2026.
Representative Karma Singey of the Tibet Office, Canberra, attended the ceremony and conveyed his heartfelt congratulations to Dr Brown on receiving this prestigious award. Representative Singey also expressed deep appreciation for Dr Brown’s longstanding friendship and unwavering support for His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Tibet.
As a gesture of gratitude and appreciation, Representative Singey presented Dr Brown with a copy of Ocean of Wisdom Over Southern Skies, a commemorative book on His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s visits to Australia and New Zealand.
Dr Bob Brown has been a long-time friend and staunch supporter of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Tibet.
