Canberra: As part of the yearlong celebration of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday and the Year of Compassion, the Tibetan Community in Melbourne, in collaboration with Foundation House—an NGO specialising in refugee trauma and supporting survivors of torture—organised a lively traditional Tibetan Circle Dance (Gorshey) at Federation Square, one of Melbourne’s most iconic venues, on Saturday, 27 July 2025.
The celebration brought together individuals from diverse backgrounds to participate in a powerful cultural event honouring His Holiness’s enduring legacy of compassion, peace, and resilience. This gathering also served as a living tribute to His Holiness’s vision of non-violence and harmony among all people.
During the event, President Samdup of the Victoria Tibetan Community and Luisa Capasso from Foundation House spoke about the significance of this celebration.
