
Dharamshala: The Tibetan Settlement Office, Dharamshala, organised a special “Tibet Talk” for 60 students from Classes 9 to 12 of Academic World School, Chhattisgarh, as part of their educational tour.
The objective of the program was to introduce the students to the Tibetan issue, highlight the life and achievements of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, and commemorate His Holiness’s 90th Birthday as well as the Year of Compassion.
The keynote address was delivered by Tenzin Lekshay, the official spokesperson of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), who shared valuable insights on the Tibetan movement and the strong ties between Tibet and India. His engaging talk deepened the students’ understanding of the Tibetan cause and the enduring friendship between the two peoples.
The event was attended by 60 students and 5 faculty members. After the talk, the Tibetan Settlement Officer of Dharamshala expressed heartfelt thanks to the staff and students who travelled all the way from Chhattisgarh. The officer also extended sincere gratitude to the Government and people of India for their unwavering support to the Tibetan community over the past 60 years.
To conclude the program, each student was presented with a beautiful handmade, recycled diary, symbolising appreciation and environmental awareness. These diaries were crafted by the Clean Upper Dharamshala Program (CUDP), an initiative under the Tibetan Settlement Office, promoting sustainability and community involvement.
