Representative Dr Arya Tsewang Gyalpo speaking to the participants.
Tokyo: Tibet House Japan organised a workshop on Tibet for Tibetan students studying and working in Japan at the Tibet House today. The workshop’s purpose was to have the young Tibetan students in Japan maintain and stay in close touch with their identity and struggle and be aware of the common cause. The workshop started with the singing of the Tibetan national anthem.
Representative Dr Arya Tsewang Gyalpo welcomed the participants and spoke on the hope and aspirations of the Tibetans in Tibet and reminded the students of the great responsibility they all have in restoring freedom and justice in Tibet. He talked about the importance of democracy and how it evolved under the blessing of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. He said the proper practice of the democratic system is crucial to community development and the continued existence of the Tibetan struggle.
The workshop was based on Dr Arya’s book “Harnessing the Dragon’s Fume” published by the Department of Information and International (DIIR), Dharamshala. He gave a brief introduction to the political history of Tibet and explained how important it is for every Tibetan to read and understand Tibetan history and be in a position to challenge the false Chinese propaganda and narratives. The book was distributed to all the participants.
The students introduced themselves, their work, and their field of study. They thanked Tibet House for organising the workshop and expressed deep gratitude to the Central Tibetan Administration and the Tibet House for giving them the opportunity to study and work in Japan. They appreciated the workshop and said how the workshop brought them closer to the Tibetan struggle.
Tashi Yangzom and Tselha of the Office of Tibet, Japan, moderated and helped organise the workshop.
