
New Delhi: The All-Party Indian Parliamentary Forum for Tibet (APIPFT) convened a meeting at Samvidhan Sadan, New Delhi, to discuss and reinforce parliamentary advocacy for Tibet. The meeting was chaired by Shri Bhartruhari Mahtab, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and Convenor of APIPFT, and co-chaired by Shri Tapir Gao, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and Co-Convenor of APIPFT.
The meeting featured discussions on strengthening parliamentary engagement and ensuring sustained awareness of the Tibet issue at the State, National, and International levels. The discussions centered on the strategic initiatives needed to keep Tibet’s cause relevant and to enhance diplomatic and political support for the Tibetan movement.
The meeting was attended by esteemed Members of Parliament, including Shri Bhartruhari Mahtab MP (LS) BJP Odisha, Shri Tapir Gao MP (LS) BJP Arunachal Pradesh, Shri Sujeet Kumar MP (RS) BJP Odisha/Former Convener of APIPFT, Shri Gulam Ali MP (RS) BJP Jammu & Kashmir, Smt. S. Phangnon Konyak MP (RS) BJP Nagaland, Shri Dr. Jayanta Kumar Roy MP (LS) BJP West Bengal, Shri Kamakhya Prasad Tasa MP (LS) BJP Assam, Shri Indra Hang Subba MP (LS) SKM Sikkim, Shri Supongmeren S. Jamir MP (LS) INC Nagaland, Shri Dr. Pradeep Kumar Panigrahy MP (LS) BJP Odisha, Shri Richard Vanlalhamangaiha MP (LS) ZPM Mizoram, Smt. Dr. Kadiyam Kavya MP (LS) INC Telangana, and Shri Alfred K. Arthur MP (LS) INC Manipur.
The meeting included a briefing on the discussions from the previous session to update the distinguished MPs who were not present on 25 April. The MPs who were updated included Shri Sujeet Kumar MP (RS) BJP Odisha/Former Convener of APIPFT, Shri Gulam Ali Khatana MP (RS), BJP Jammu & Kashmir, Smt. S. Phangnon Konyak MP (RS), BJP Nagaland, Dr. Pradeep Kumar Panigrahy MP (LS), BJP Odisha, and Dr. Jayanta Kumar Roy MP (LS), BJP West Bengal.
Jigme Jungney, Representative of the Bureau of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, New Delhi, along with the India Tibet Coordination staff—Tashi Dekyi (ITCO Coordinator), Phuntsok Gyatso (Parliamentary Coordinator), Migmar Tsamchoe (Accountant), and Ngawang Choden (Program Officer)—presented the book Voice for the Voiceless: Over Seven Decades of Struggle with China for My Land, My People, by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, as a souvenir to all the esteemed Members of Parliament.
This meeting underscores India’s continued solidarity with the Tibetan cause and the unwavering commitment of Indian lawmakers toward justice and human rights in Tibet.
