The 3rd International Day of Peace Seminar Held in South Korea on 35th Anniversary of Conferment of Nobel Peace Prize on His Holiness
Dharamshala: In celebration of the 35th anniversary of conferment of the Nobel Peace Prize on His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the Tibetan Community of South Korea organised 3rd International Day of Peace Seminar at Seoul-based Jogyesa Temple on 8 December 2024.
According to a report sent from the Tibetan Community of South Korea, this annual event celebrates the global solidarity and recognition of the Tibetan people’s enduring struggle for freedom and justice, which has gained widespread attention for remarkable resilience in the face of over more than 65 years of persecution.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama has also issued a special message for the event, emphasising the importance of fundamental human rights, religious harmony, cultivating a compassionate mind, and promoting a message of non-violence and love.
This seminar was graced by the presence of former Sikyong of the Central Tibetan Administration, Dr Lobsang Sangay. He stated that a comprehensive understanding of Tibet’s factual situation can help determine South Korea’s future course when speaking to the Korean attendees during the seminar.
Likewise, several prominent South Korean scholars, as well as others, have also addressed the seminar on various issues.
Ven. Geshe Sangpo, the President of the Tibetan Community of South Korea, noted that this platform provided an opportunity for exchanging ideas among participants and fostering an understanding of the roots of all violence—anger, which can only be placated with a compassionate mind.
