
Tezu: Dhargyeling Tibetan Settlement marked a momentous occasion on 6 July 2025 with the grand celebration of the 90th birth anniversary of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. The day was dedicated to the universal values of compassion, peace, and unity, and brought together a distinguished gathering of spiritual leaders, eminent dignitaries, and members of the local community in a spirit of reverence and harmony.
The Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Dr Chowna Mein, graced the celebration as the Chief Guest, while Dzogchen Ganor Rinpoche was warmly welcomed as the Guest of Honour.
Adding to the grace and significance of the occasion was the esteemed presence of Shri Passang Dorjee Sona, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Education, Rural Works, Parliamentary Affairs, and Libraries; Shri Wanki Lowang, Hon’ble Minister of Geology, Mining, and Minerals; Shri Dr Mohesh Chai, Hon’ble MLA, Tezu–Sunpura Constituency; Shri Chau Zingnu Namchoom, Hon’ble MLA, Namsai; Shri Mutchu Mithi, Hon’ble MLA, Roing; Shri P. N. Khrimey, Inspector General of Police, Namsai; Shri Kesang Ngurup Damo, Deputy Commissioner, Lohit; Shri C. R. In his keynote address, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Dr Chowna Mein paid heartfelt tribute to His Holiness, praising his lifelong dedication to the values of non-violence, interfaith harmony, and compassion. He also recognised His Holiness’ decades-long leadership of the Tibetan movement and lauded the Tibetan community in Arunachal Pradesh for upholding and preserving their rich spiritual and cultural heritage.
Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister has further expressed his support for His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s recent statement regarding the continuation of the Dalai Lama Institution.
The day-long celebration was filled with cultural vibrancy, spiritual fervour, and community participation. Traditional offerings, cultural performances, and collective prayers created an atmosphere of deep respect and joy.
In a significant declaration, the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) has designated the period from 6 July 2025 to 6 July 2026 as the “Year of Compassion”, in honour of His Holiness’s enduring legacy. The Dhargyeling Tibetan Settlement Tezu will observe the year with a series of activities aimed at promoting compassion, kindness, and mental well-being.
As a gesture of gratitude, the Dhargyeling Tibetan Settlement Officer, along with community leaders, felicitated the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, and all Special Guests with symbolic mementoes, including Buddha figurines and Thangka paintings, in appreciation of their gracious presence and continued support.
The celebration stood as a profound testament to the enduring bond between the Tibetan community and the people of Arunachal Pradesh—founded on shared values of peace, respect, and mutual coexistence.
