Zurich:The Tibetan weekend School students from Liechtenstein and Switzerland participated in 10th Tibetan Language day that commenced at 9:30 am, 14 June 2025 at Zurich. This year witnessed 467 participants, where students engaged in various endeavours, including calligraphy, reading contest, debates and poetry recitation. The Chinese Liaison officer for European countries Sangay Kyab partook as the judge of the event’s contest.
The chief guest of the event was Swiss Representative Thinlay Chukki of the Tibet Bureau in Geneva. Europe’s Tibetan parliamentarian delegate Thupten Gyatso, Khen Rinpoche of Tibet Institute Rikon, the former Tibetan parliamentarian, President and Vice president of Swiss Tibetan Community of Switzerland and Liechtenstien (TCSL) was all in attendance.
The chief guest Thinlay Chukki urged teachers and parents must assume the responsibility on preserving Tibetan traditions by encouraging their children to learn Tibetan language and culture. She acknowledged the perseverance of teachers and the parents alike for their effort in making this event possible.She concluded her address with the remark that, “the young generation holds a greater responsibility in maintaining the Tibetan struggle alive.” And the Tibetan youth must uphold the teachings and legacy of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet.
