Swiss Representative Thinlay Chukki Inaugurates a Book.
Geneva: On 2 February 2025 at 1:00 p.m., Swiss Representative Thinlay Chukki visited the Geneva Sunday Tibetan School to inaugurate the German-language edition of Ro Dung (also titled The Prince and the Zombie: Tibetan Tales of Karma) by Tibetan author Tenzin Wangmo, a former President of the French-speaking section of the Swiss Tibetan Friendship Association.
At the invitation of the Geneva Tibetan Association, Representative Chukki and author Tenzin Wangmo were warmly welcomed by the school community. In addition to launching the newly published German edition of Ro Dung, Representative Chukki shared valuable guidance and advice with the teachers, students and parents present. She stressed the importance of imparting Tibetan culture to younger generations, emphasising that Tibet’s future depends on how well elders educate today’s students about their heritage. Representative Chukki encouraged both teachers and parents to make every effort to support students, motivating them to excel in their studies.
Following this, Tenzin Wangmo introduced her work to the students, sharing her personal story and the inspiration behind her book. She spent about two hours discussing the content of Ro Dung in both Tibetan and French, engaging with the students and answering their questions.
The event concluded with a thank-you speech from Phurbu, the President of the Geneva Tibetan Association, who expressed gratitude to everyone in attendance. The book launch was attended by the president and members of the Geneva Tibetan Association, as well as parents and students from the Sunday Tibetan language school.
Ro Dung was first published in French in 2012 and reprinted in 2018. It was later translated into English in 2015, Spanish in 2018 and most recently into German in 2024.
