Miao: As part of the nationwide 75th year of Indian Independence campaign under the aegis of “Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav”, a periodic Free Sunday Medical Camp has been initiated today at Tibetan Primary Health Centre, Choephelling Tibetan Settlement. The initiative is being organised in a goodwill gesture by the Border Roads Organisation.
The inauguration was held in the gracious presence of Chief Guest Shri. Vimal Goswami (Chief Engineer, Project Udayak-Border Roads Organization), Smt. Chhayaa Goswami, Shri. Sunny K Singh, IAS (Additional Deputy Commissioner), Shri. A.J Lungphi, (Extra Assistant Commisioner), Dr. Subir Bose (Deputy Chief Medical officer), Capt. Munshi Kamrul Hasan (Dental Surgeon), Mr. Tenzin Chokden (Tibetan Settlement Officer), Mr. Wangchen Dakpa (Chairman LTA), Mr. Tenzin Lhawang (Exe-Secretary TPHC) along with staffs and camp leaders.
Smt. Chhayaa Goswami W/o Shri. Vimal Goswami officiated the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The free medical camp is a joint initiative of Miao Sub Division Administration and Chief Engineer, GREF-BRO under the guidance of Shri. Kamlung Mossang (Hon’ble Minister for Urban Development & Housing, Town Planning & Urban Local Bodies, Geo & Mine, Food & Civil Supply, Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs) and this will render the much needed medical service to the needy ones in our settlement and our neighbors.
The Chief Engineer of Project Udayak-BRO, as promised during his visit to the Settlement Office along with ADC Miao, officially handed over a letter to the Settlement Officer stating that free medical assistance will be provided from 11 AM to 4 PM every Sunday as a part of Corporate Social Responsibility with a view to render service to the needy one setting an exemplary initiative in the region under HQ Project Udayak, BRO.
We will now have a Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dental Surgeon, A Lab Technician who will also guide the existing lab technician and Nursing Assistants/Staff with provisions of medicines, etc at the same time.
Chief Guest assured us that this free medical camp will continue till we will get a doctor of our own in the Settlement and he also assured us to help with any medical supply we need.
ADC Sir stressed that the residents must grab the opportunity of the visiting doctor and should give full support to the medical team who had come all the way here to give their free service to our residents.
The Settlement Officer thanked Shri. Kamlung Mosang (Hon’ble Minister) for the guidance, Shri. Vimal Goswami (Chief Engineer, Project Udayak-BRO) and Shri. Sunny K Singh, IAS (Additional Deputy Commissioner) for the joint initiative to make this free medical camp successful here in Choephelling Tibetan Settlement.
A considerable number of patients from our settlement came for doctor’s consultation much before the function waiting in queue to visit TPHC for generic medical problems and dental therapy. Nevertheless, the free medical camp will equally help our neighbors who also have the same problem if they prefer to frequent the TPHC of our settlement.

Earlier on 8 April, TATA Mini Ace hydraulic vehicle was handed over towards Choephelling Tibetan Settlement Office by Urban Development & Housing Department with initiative and support from the Additional Deputy Commissioner under the guidance from Hon’ble Minister for Urban Development & Housing regarding waste management in the Settlement under the banner of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
