Berlin: On the second day of arrival in Berlin, Sikyong Penpa Tsering led the CTA delegation and the Tibetan parliamentary delegation met with Annett Witte, the CEO of the FNF and officials of the FNF, including Dr Rene Klaff, Head of the International Department, Dr Michaela Lissowski, Head of Global Themes Unit, Dr Salim Amin, Human Rights Officer and Charles du Vinage, Head of the Asia Desk, at the FNF office in Berlin.
In the afternoon, Sikyong and the delegates met with German MP Valentin Abel, the youngest member of the parliament at age 31. The meeting was also joined by Andre Lehmann, aid to the MP.
Following that, Sikyong and the delegation met with MdB Peter Heidt, Spokesman for Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid for the parliamentary group in the German federal parliament, and MdB Frank Muller-Rosentritt, a member of the committee on foreign relations with a focus on Asia and China and Co-Chair of the German Parliamentary Group for Tibet. The meeting, where the dignitaries were briefed on the current critical situation inside Tibet, was held at the German parliament. Following the meeting, Sikyong tweeted about the meeting and said, “Had a constructive interaction with German parliamentarians@theliberalfrank& @PeterHeidtFDP at the Reinstagon developing new parliamentary initiatives on Tibet, particularly in light of the repressive colonial boarding school system, mass DNA collection inside Tibet. And the abuse of the zero-Covid policy to repress Tibetans. The changing perceptions on China in the EU and the need for it to evolve into concrete actions were some of the many focuses of the meeting”.
The next day, Sikyong Penpa Tsering had a breakfast meeting with German Parliamentarians Michael Brand and Klaus-Peter Willsch alongside Tibetan Parliamentarians Ngodup Dorjee and Ratsa Sonam Norbu from the parliamentary delegation, DIIR Kalon Norzin Dolma and Representative Thinlay Chukki, Tibet Bureau Geneva.
