Dharamshala: Sikyong Penpa Tsering of the Central Tibetan Administration today launched the e-filing website built by Tibetan Computer Resource Centre (TCRC) at Sikyong Auditorium. This e-filing website is an initiative to digitise the CTA’s official correspondence and filing system.
Sikyong Penpa Tsering attended the inauguration ceremony as a Chief Guest, accompanied by DoE Kalon Changra Tharlam Dolma and DIIR Kalon Norzin Dolma. The Secretaries, Additional Secretaries and Joint Secretaries of the CTA also took part in the event, which kicked off at 9:15 am.
In his introductory remarks, TCRC Director Namgyal Lekshey elucidated the development of the e-filing website, which has been materialised solely for the simplification of official correspondences and digitise CTA’s official documents. Moreover, according to its Director, the entire project was developed by TCRC’s web designers without seeking external assistance.
Hitting the spacebar key, Sikyong Penpa Tsering officially launched the newly built website before addressing the gathering. “To keep up with the pace of technological advancement, CTA introduces its e-filling initiative as a part of the broader concept of e-governance,” Sikyong said. Hence, “the execution of the project will initiate from Dharamshala-based offices of CTA to Tibetan Settlement Offices and Offices of Tibet in the near future,” he continued. Furthermore, he applauded the CTA’s IT department for their budget-friendly project while encouraging inventiveness from within on hiring experts outside the domain of CTA.
At the moment, the e-filing project stores documents, and provides a means to correspond between the departments in Dharamshala beginning from 1 April.
Sikyong further mentioned minimal usage of paper after introducing the project, which also benefits the environment, at least on a small scale, as a contribution from CTA to preserving the degrading global environment. He also urged departments to store documents in an organised and uniform structure.
Before concluding the ceremony, Department of Information and International Relations’ Secretary Karma Choeying appreciated the initiative and asked the attendees for recommendations in the future regarding modifications to the website.
