Dharamshala: The newly constructed Phuntsok Khangsar, a multi-purpose building of Dharamshala settlement office in Mcleodganj was inaugurated earlier this morning by Sikyong Penpa Tsering.
Following the inspection tour of the building led by settlement officer Kunchok Migmar, Sikyong addressed the gathering. Home Secretary Tsewang Dolma Shosur and Parliamentarian Dawa Tsering were among the guests present.
While extending congratulations, Sikyong said it was the collective effort of the administration and public which made it possible for the project to materialise.
“While it is our responsibility to substantially meet the welfare needs of the exile community, it is equally essential that the public also make some additional contributions,” Sikyong remarked and advised the community to make optimum usage of the new building.
Sikyong also shared Kashag’s vision of enhancing commercial development in Tibetan settlements across India after the assessment visit of each settlement. Meanwhile, he reminded the public to participate in the ongoing demography campaign launched by the CTA.
The inaugural ceremony concluded with felicitation of donors and volunteers by Sikyong.
Initiated by the previous Kashag and former settlement officer Kunga Tsering, the newly inaugurated building worth an estimated 2 Crores and 90 Lakhs has amenities like a community hall, restaurant and shops which will be leased to public as per the guidelines of the settlement office. As informed by settlement officer Kunchok, around 85% of the total cost of the project was funded by CTA’s Home Department and the rest was contributed by Dhasa Tibetan community.
