
Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sangay of the Central Tibetan Administration attended the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as an honored guest at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, 26 May 2014.
DHARAMSHALA: Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sangay attended the swearing-in ceremony of Prime minister Shri Narendra Modi at Rashtrapathi Bhavan, New Delhi yesterday. Honorable Sikyong was accompanied by Ms. Dolma Gyari, the honorable Kalon for the Department of Home, Central Tibetan Administration.
Sikyong has earlier delivered message to Mr. Modi congratulating him and his party on winning the general election, and has said, “I wish you great success in meeting the hopes and expectations of the people as you prepare to assume your new responsibilities.”
Shri Narendra Modi was sworn in as the 15th Prime minister of India after winning a landslide victory in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. 24 Cabinet ministers and 21 ministers of state were also sworn-in during the ceremony. The oath of office was administered by Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, the President of India.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by leaders of all the SAARC countries including Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of Pakistan, President Mahinda Rajapakse of Sri Lanka, President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan and Prime Minister Sushil Koiraila of Nepal.
The ceremony also provided good opportunity for the Tibetan leaders to meet other dignitaries and exchange greetings. It is observed that this is the first time that Political leaders of Central Tibetan Administration made their presence along with other dignitaries in the Swearing-in ceremony of the Prime Minister of India.
