Washington: The recently held SEE Learning workshop for Tibetan weekend school teachers in San Francisco, North California, convoked participating teachers to strategise pedagogy to improve students’ Tibetan language proficiency.
Around 80 teachers from 18 Tibetan language and culture schools took part in the three-day workshop which was also attended by Representative Dr Namgyal Choedup, Tibetan liaison officer Kunga Tashi, TANC President Jinpa Tharchin and Namchokyal school’s principal Kalsang Dorjee.
On the sideline of the workshop, the participants proposed to hold a separate workshop to discuss teaching approaches to the Tibetan language and culture for oversea Tibetan students. Tenzin Chime Nuwa, a veteran teacher based in Los Angeles, and Nangsel Tenzin Norbu, the director of New Jersey Tibetan weekend school, gave coaching to the participants on the evening of the workshop’s final day.
The workshop was funded by the Tibet Fund and was live-streamed on TibetTV’s youtube platform and the Facebook page of the Tibetan Association of North California. In addition, Representative Dr Namgyal Choedup met and interacted with the Tibetan community on 17 March.
