Himachal Pradesh: Representatives from Tibetan settlements in Kullu and Dalhousie recently met with Sikyong, standing committee members of the 17th Tibetan Parliament in Exile, and Home Secretary Palden Dhondup to raise key concerns affecting their communities. They appealed for these issues to be addressed and incorporated into ongoing and future settlement development projects.
Following the meeting, it was agreed that a detailed assessment of the situation would be conducted to support future planning. Accordingly, Home Secretary Palden Dhondup undertook a five-day official inspection visit from 16 to 20 April to several settlements in need of urgent support, including Yullo Koe (Kullu), Manali Dekyiling, 15 Mile, Dhobi Palrabling, and Dalhousie Tibetan settlements.
During the visit, the Home Secretary held joint meetings with local leaders and conducted large public gatherings to discuss pressing issues, review ongoing projects, and evaluate the need for future initiatives aimed at resolving community challenges.
In addition, surveys were carried out to assess the status of households listed under the Department of Home’s resettlement projects.
The Home Secretary was accompanied by Joint Secretary Ngodup Woeser and North Section Head Yeshi Tenzin during the inspection tour.
