Sikkim: Secretary Chemi Tseyang of the Department of Religion and Culture attended the 10th-anniversary celebration of Sog Yungdrungling monastery in Sikkim. Among the distinguished guests present at the two-day celebration were 34th Menri Tri-zin Rinpoche, Sikkim’s former Deputy Secretary Tsegyal, Karma Loday Bhutia, Minister of Forest and Environment Department, and MP Raj Kumari Thapa. The two Bon Tibetan parliamentarians were also among the attendees.
On 1st April, Menri Trizin Rinpoche performed cosmic peaceful fire puja. On the next day, Rinpoche bestowed Longevity Initiation to the public.
Sog Yungdrungling Monastery was established on 24 April 2013 by Abbot Yonten Gyatso Rinpoche and was later inaugurated on 31 December 2016. Former CTA Kalon Karma Yuthok and other dignitaries inaugurated the monastery’s school in 2016.
In addition to providing a home for the poor and underprivileged children of Sikkim, the other main objective of the monastery is to revive and preserve the spiritual education and the practice of Bon Tradition.
