Honorary Representative Telo Tulku Rinpoche paid an official visit to Ulaanbaatar, the capitol city of Mongolia from 1 to 10 August .
During Telo Tulku Rinpoche’s visit to Mongolia he met with government officials, Head of the Buddhist of Mongolia, Ven. Choijamst, NGOs and gave interview to Mongolian National TV and paid a visit to various educational and humanitarian institutions.
Mongolia is a landlocked country between Russia and China and since Mongolia became a democratic state, it has become highly dependent on China for economic development.
Nevertheless, the historical ties between Tibet and Mongolia continue to strive and Honorary Representative Telo Tulku Rinpoche was in Mongolia to lobby support and strengthen the historical ties.
Telo Tulku Rinpoche met with various parliamentarians to give a detailed report on Tibet’s political situation and requested them not to forget Tibet’s issue and gave a detailed explanation on CTA’s policy “The Middle way approach”. Honorary representative visited a few NGOs and gave a brief talk on the importance of reviving and maintaining the historical, cultural and religious ties between Mongolians and Tibetans.
Asral Charitable organization is run by Pachen Otrul Rinpoche who is based in Ireland and it is the only Tibetan charitable project that benefit hundreds of Mongolians who are suffering because of ever increasing poverty since the collapse of the Soviet Union. Panchen Otrul Rinpoche visited prisons, orphanages and schools and provided vocational training, medical assistance, educational aid such as scholarships for the homeless, orphans and the underprivileged children. Panchen Otrul Rinpoche formed Asral NGO in 2001 to help communities in Mongolia.
Telo Tulku Rinpoche thanked Panchem Otrul Rinpoche Rinpoche on behalf of CTA for its humanitarian aid and for his stern commitment in helping the people of Mongolia. Also, Honorary Representative met with intellectuals, academicians and educators to promote “Secular ethics education programs” which is now being translated into Mongolian. He also signed an agreement with Mongolian translators to translate “Science and Philosophy in the Indian Buddhist Classics” Volume 1 the Physical World which was conceived and introduced by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
The translation is due to be completed within the next 18 months.
On the last leg of the visit, the Mongolian Tibetan Community met with Honorary Representative Telo Tulku Rinpoche to discuss various issues of CTA policy and issues that the Tibetans are facing in Mongolia.
