Taipei: Representative Kelsang Gyaltsen of the Office of Tibet based in Taiwan attended the inaugural ceremony of the Mongolian and Tibetan Film Festival 2021 in Taipei organised by Taiwan’s Ministry of Culture on 29 October. Other guests at the inaugural ceremony include staff from the Mongolian Representative’s office, the German Institute, and the Canadian Trade Office based in Taipei. This year’s film festival will take place from 29 October – 11 November 2021 in three Taiwanese cities namely Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung.
Other than Representative Kelsang Gyaltsen, OOT Secretary Sonam Dorje, Tenzin Namdak, President of Taiwan Tibetan Community, and members of the Tibetan community in Taiwan also attended the inaugural ceremony of the festival.
The film festival will present ten films in four sections: Mongolian Spirit, Tibetan Legacy, Generation, and Classic. Tibet related films that will be presented at the film festival include ‘The 14th Dalai Lama: The World Champion of Peace’ (Japan), ‘Kalachakra: The Enlightenment’ (France), ‘Barley Field on the Other Side of the Mountain’ (England), and Little Buddha (Italy).
Deputy minister of Taiwan’s Ministry of Culture delivered the opening remarks of the ceremony and explained the objectives of organising the film festival. Representative Kelsang Gyaltsen in his address spoke about his desire to participate in and organise more such events in the future.
