
New Delhi: Jigme Jungney, Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, accompanied by Tashi Dickey, Secretary of the Bureau of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, called on Shri Govind Mohan, Union Home Secretary, in New Delhi on Tuesday to discuss a range of issues affecting the Tibetan community in India and abroad.
During the meeting, the delegation raised several pressing concerns, including delays in Certificate of Identity clearances, pending FCRA renewals of Tibetan institutions, and land-related matters impacting certain Tibetan settlements. The Representative also urged the Home Secretary to consider enhancing the Grant-in-Aid support extended to the Tibetan community, noting that the current assistance has remained unchanged for many years. He also conveyed the community’s deep gratitude to the Government of India for its longstanding support. The delegation sought the Ministry of Home Affairs’ continued engagement and intervention in resolving these outstanding issues. He assured us that he would look into all the matters and called for a meeting a month later.
At the close of the meeting, Representative Jungney presented Secretary Mohan with a Buddha Thangka and the book Voice for the Voiceless as a token of respect and gratitude.
