Tokyo: Tibetans, Southern Mongolians, and Uyghur nationals under China’s occupation, along with Chinese democrats, Taiwan, Hong Kong representatives, and Japanese supporters, have formed a committee to organise a protest march and a seminar on 28 September in Tokyo to protest the continued Chinese occupation and aggression targeting the 76th founding anniversary of the People Republic of China on 1 October.
A protest march and slogans were raised before the Chinese embassy in Tokyo in the morning. The protestors raised slogans to urge China to stop the repression and Sinicization of their history, language, and culture.
Representative Dr. Tsewang Gyalpo Arya of the Liaison Office of H.H. the Dalai Lama was invited by the committee to join the seminar session in the afternoon at Shinjuku public hall and share the Tibetan story since the establishment of the PRC in 1949. Representative Arya thanked the committee for the invitation and said that China may celebrate the occasion with great pomp and show and boast of various achievements made by the CCP, but for the Tibetans and other occupied nationals of Southern Mongolia and Uyghur, it was the start of the long years of repression and tyranny. He talked about Chinese colonial boarding schools and the interference in the reincarnation of Tibetan Lamas, including H.H. the Dalai Lama. He informed the audience about the Chinese transnational repression and drew attention to the mysterious demise of the Ven. Hungkar Rinpoche in Vietnam this year. Chinese version of the book “Harnessing the Drago’s Fume” was also distributed to the Chinese guests.
Dr. Lobsang Yangtso of the International Tibet Network spoke on the destruction of Tibetan ecology through the continued damming of the Tibetan rivers and the hegemonic policy behind the damming activities.
Representatives of the Southern Mongolia and Uyghur community spoke on the Chinese occupation and how they are denied basic human and religious rights. Representatives of Hong Kong and Chinese Democracy briefed on the repressive policy of the CCP and the need of democracy in China. The Taiwan representative spoke on the Chinese aggression and how Taiwanese are living in constant fear of being attacked by the CCP.
Moderator Sato Takashi of the Free Indo Pacific Alliance thanked the speakers and the audience and concluded the seminar with hope and prayer for a world free of war and violence.
