Taiwan: Representative Bawa Kalsang Gyaltsen and the Secretary of the Office of Tibet in Taiwan attended a four-day religious event held for Taiwanese devotees from 31 October to 3 November 2024 at the Sera Jey Dharma Center in Banqiao City, Taiwan.
On 1 November, they participated in an empowerment and transmission conducted by the 78th Khenrab of Sera Jey Monastery, Tati Geshe Tashi Tsethar Rinpoche, where they presented a mandala token along with a ceremonial scarf to the Rinpoche.
On 4 November, Tati Geshe Tashi Tsethar Rinpoche and his entourage visited the Office of Tibet in Taiwan. They engaged in a 45-minute meeting with the Representative to discuss office affairs and to mutually explore and introduce religious matters relevant to Taiwan. Following this meeting, they toured the Office of Tibet prayer room, where they offered a ceremonial scarf at the seat of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Additionally, on 9 October, Khenpo Palden Wangchuk Rinpoche, the abbot of Gaden Jangtse Monastery, along with his entourage and several students from the Jangtse Monastery Dharma Association in Taiwan, visited the Representative Office. They began their visit by paying homage at His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s seat. Subsequently, they engaged in an hour-long discussion with the Representative regarding the work of the Office of Tibet and the status of Tibetan Buddhism in Taiwan. Khen Rinpoche presented the Office with a framed thangka of His Holiness the Dalai Lama as a token of appreciation. Following the meeting, members of the Dharma Association hosted a dinner.
Similarly, on 19 October, Lama Pema Lodroe Sögen Rinpoche, of the Nyingma tradition residing in the United States, visited the Office of Tibet along with Lama Yonten, a member of the Executive Committee of the International Tibetan Buddhism Research Association of Taiwan. During their approximately hour-long meeting, the Representative Office introduced various projects related to Tibetan Buddhism in Taiwan. Rinpoche was toured around the Office of Tibet paying homage at His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s seat and engaged in several religious activities.
