
Tokyo: Tibet House Japan and the Tibetan Community in Japan (TCJ) jointly held a prayer and memorial service on the afternoon of 26 June at the Tibet House office in Tokyo for the former Representative for Japan and East Asia, Chope Paljor Tsering, who passed away in Australia on 11 June.
The prayer service was attended by 11 participants who gathered to offer prayers and pay tribute to the late Representative. Some Tibetans who were unable to attend in person has send condolence messages and donation for the prayers gathering.
The late former Representative served as the Representative for Japan and East Asia at the Tokyo Liaison Office from 2002 to 2007. He has had a dedicated career spanning more than four decades, he dedicated his life to serving the Tibetan Government in Exile in various important capacities, including as a Cabinet Minister.
The prayer service was presided over and coordinated by Chisa Tselha of the Tibet House and Dorjee Shiota of the Tibetan Community in Japan (TCJ). Kunchok Sithar of Potala College led the prayer service. Representative Tsewang Gyalpo Arya and Secretary Tashi Yangzom were in Hiroshima on official talk events and had left a message of condolence. Chope la’s book “The Nature of All Things” and its Japanese translation was also introduced during the prayer service.
The Tibetan community in Japan and supporters of Tibet in Japan extend their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and offer prayers for the departed soul. His lifelong service and dedication will be remembered with respect and gratitude.
