Bengaluru: A condolence prayer ceremony for the late Shri H. Hanumanthappa, aged 94, was held at his residence in Chitradurga on 21 July 2026. Prayers were offered for the peaceful repose of his soul. Shri H. Hanumanthappa was a three-term Member of the Rajya Sabha and former Chairman of the Central Silk Board. He made significant contributions to the rehabilitation of Tibetan refugees in Karnataka during the formative years of the Tibetan exile community.

The prayer service was led by monks from Drepung Gomang Monastery. Those in attendance included Jigmey Tsultrim, Chief Representative Officer of the South Zone, and Tenzin Lodoe, Office Secretary of the Mundgod Tibetan Settlement. The ceremony was also attended by local dignitaries, including Shri Shanmukhappa, Trustee of the Chitradurga Memorial Dome Trust, along with members of the bereaved family, relatives, friends, and well-wishers.

On behalf of Sikyong Penpa Tsering, the Central Tibetan Administration, Dharamshala, and the Tibetan community, Chief Representative Officer Jigmey Tsultrim presented an official letter of condolence to Shri H. Mohan, the eldest son of the late Shri H. Hanumanthappa. The letter conveyed heartfelt condolences to the family and expressed deep appreciation for Shri H. Hanumanthappa’s enduring friendship, steadfast support, and unwavering solidarity with the Tibetan people.

The ceremony concluded with prayers for the peaceful repose of the departed soul and for strength and solace for the family during this time of profound loss.
