Odisha: As part of the ongoing celebrations marking His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 90th birth year, the Odisha Phuntsokling Tibetan Settlement distributed dry rations to 130 needy families from six neighbouring villages — Tamula, Lambaguda, Munigadiha, Dekili, Machogoda and Kirakhya — along with the other needy individuals on Saturday, 9 May 2026.
Each ration package contained 8 kg of rice, 5 kg of pulses, 1 kg of wheat flour, 1 kg of soybeans, 100 grams of jaggery, two 750 ml bottles of cooking oil, and 1 kg of salt, with a total value of approximately INR 1,270 per family. Sweets were also distributed to children, while surplus winter clothing from the settlement, along with used clothing donated by Tibetans, was distributed to the needy families.
Prior to the distribution programme, members of the settlement’s birthday celebration committee visited the villages to conduct assessments and identify families in need before carrying out the distribution of rations and clothing.
