Mundgod: The parliamentary delegation comprising Parliamentarians Geshe Lharampa Atuk Tseten and Choedak Gyatso concluded their week-long assessment visit to Mundgod.
The visiting delegation arrived in Mundgod on 10 November, and they were received by the settlement officer Lhakpa Dolma led staff and representatives of local Tibetan associations. The next day, the parliamentary delegation received an audience with Khesur Rinpoche Lobsang Tsephel. They visited the Sambhota Middle School, organic farmland, Mentseekhang branch, old age home, and local health centre in the afternoon and integrated.
On the 12th, the delegation visited many monasteries in the settlement, including Drepung Loseling, Drepung Gomang, Drepung Lachi, and Sakya monastery. Following the visit to monasteries, the duo received an audience with Kyabje Sherpa Choeje Dorje Rinpoche, Kyabje Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche, and Drepung Tripa Kunchok Paksam before heading for a visit to Loseling centre for mediation and science including nearby monasteries and project sites. In the evening, the parliamentarians addressed the monks of Drepung at Drepung Lachi. They attended to the queries and answered the questions asked.
The next day on the 13th, the delegation visited Gaden Lachi, Shartse, Jangtse and Nyima monasteries, followed by a visit to the Jangchup Choeling nunnery. In the afternoon, they visited the offices of local civil society groups, including the Regional Youth Congress, Ex-Army Association, Opera Association, and Tibetan Women Association. In the evening, the delegation spoke to a gathering of monks at Gaden Lachi.
The next day, the parliamentarians paid a visit to the Local Assembly, Settlement offices, the Regional Tibetan Freedom Movement, and the Tibetan Co-operative. Later that day, they addressed the public and successively answered their queries. A luncheon reception was hosted in their honour by the 26 local bodies.
On the 15th, the delegation paid a courtesy call to the newly appointed Deputy Commissioner Prabhuling Kavalikatti of Uttara Kannada District and ADC Raju Mogaveera. They discussed issues concerning the situation inside Tibet and the welfare concern of Tibetans in Mundgod.
On the morning of the 16th, the parliamentarians attended the consecration ceremony of constructing the new road via camp three and the local health centre. The heads and leaders of the settlement attended the ceremony, including RDPR of Mundgod, Pradeep Bhat. In the afternoon, the delegation was visited by some members of the Tibet Support Group. The visiting Tibetan MPs visited the Tehsildar office and RDPR office. The same evening, the MPs paid an inspection visit to the local sports association and later attended the lhakar event organised by the community. Throughout their weeklong visitation in Mundgod, the parliamentarians were accompanied and assisted by the settlement officer
