Dharamsala : As per the designated schedule of Tibetan settlement official visitation cum assessment by the 16th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, parliamentarians Mr. Dawa Tsering and Mr. Migyur Dorjee successfully concluded their 15 days (second) official visit to Norgyeling Tibetan settlement, Bhandara, Maharastra and Phendeyling Tibetan Settlement, Mainpat, Chattisgarh from 6 to 20 July.
On 9 July, the two Tibetan law-makers were greeted and welcomed by the Settlement Officer, Representatives and Group-Leaders (Chimi-Gyakpon) , the members of its Local Tibetan Assembly and Regional Tibetan freedom Movement as well as other non-governmental organisations.
On 10 July, they paid homage to the monasteries in the settlement, viz., Thekche-Choeling monastery and Nyingon Shedrupling monastery. Thereafter, they visited the old-age home and also visited the offices of Tibetan settlement Officer; Local Tibetan Assembly; Regional Tibetan Freedom Movement; Representative and Group-Leader (Chimi-Gyakpon) in the same afternoon. They also assessed the drinking-water project in the settlement.
Their visitation also include visit to Tibetan school, local branch of Men-Tse-Khang, Tibetan primary health clinic and camp no. 1 of the settlement.
Later in the afternoon, they held a shugmol meeting with the settlement officer; members of Local Tibetan Assembly; Director of the Tibetan school; Directors of both the settlement’s homeopathic and allopathic clinics; and the representatives and group leaders of the settlement.
Parliamentarian Mr. Migyur Dorjee spoke on the objectives and the importance of the meeting and briefed them on the functions and duties of Tibetan parliament. Parliamentarian Mr. Dawa Tsering addressed them on the responsibilities of the concerned authorities of both non-governmental organisations and the Tibetan settlement office, the representative of Central Tibetan Administration.
On 13 July, the two Tibetan parliamentarians visited Phendeyling Tibetan settlement, Mainpat, Chattisgarh, and paid homage to the Dakdra monastery. Thereafter, they visited the Tibetan school, old-age home, primary health clinic and its seven camps. They addressed the Tibetan students and residents during their public meeting. They also paid their respect to Kagyu monastery, Nyingma Tsori Dechen Choeling monastery and Palyul Dechen Choeling monastery, the branch monastery of Namdroling.
During their visitation program, the two Tibetan law-makers engaged in exchange of public opinions and two shugmol meetings as well as addressed the public on three ocassions. They also acknowledged the diligence and efforts of the school’s teachers for their effort and hard work. They highlighted the importance of education and the significance of recognising one’s saviour, friend and foe while reminding the students to have gratitude for their parents and teachers. They also informed the students on various techniques of studying as they pointed out some examples as well.
At the shugmol-meetings, the two Tibetan parliamentarians emphasised the principle duty of the concerned authorities of non-governmental organisations and the Tibetan settlement office, the representative of Central Tibetan Administrative, and that is to bridge the gap between the common Tibetan people and the Central Tibetan Administration and strive towards the cultivation of their belief and support to Central Tibetan Administration. They further elucidated that in order for such cultivation, informing and edifying the public on the aspirations of His Holiness the Dalai Lama; politics of Central Tibetan Administration as well as its policies on education, health etc. by the concerned local authorities is also very important.
It took 15 days to successfully record the supplications of requisite review of students and public grievances as well as intimation and assessment of destitute, monasteries, schools, settlements etc.
The grievances as per recorded by the parliamentarians will be forwarded to the concerned executive body for effective grievance redress through the Standing Committee of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile.
