DHARAMSHALA:
The Deputy Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile, Mrs Dolma Gyari,
presided over a meeting on the implementation of the First Tibetan
General Meeting’s final recommendations approved by the Parliament
during its 10th session.The members of the Parliament’s
Standing Committee, Kalon Tripa Prof Samdhong Rinpoche and Kalons of
Department of Religion and Culture, Department of Finance, Department
of Education, Department of Information and International Relations,
and Department of Health attended the meeting, held on 15 January at
the Parliamentary Secretariat.The agenda of the meeting consist
of 12-point recommendation for implementation approved by the
Parliament’s standing committee. These include matters related with
political issues of Tibet, sustenance of Tibetan settlements in exile,
economy and education, and advocacy of Tibet issue. The First
Tibetan General Meeting was held in Bylakuppe from 26 – 31 August 2010
in accordance to the resolution (2010/14/9/4) passed by the 14th
Tibetan Parliament in Exile during its 9th session. During the
10th Parliament session, the standing committee tabled a bill on
assigning these recommendations to the concerned departments for
implementation. Accordingly, the Parliament passed a
resolution (2010/14/10/4) based on which the standing committee
finalised the implementation of the recommendations after holding an
extensive discussion from 16-18 December 2010. Out of the final set of
recommendations, twelve were discussed with the Kashag during the
meeting on 15 January.
