London: On 6 July 2025, the Office of Tibet, London organised a special screening of ‘Wisdom of Happiness’ at Curzon Bloomsbury Cinema on 6 July, marking the first of three planned UK screenings during the Year of Compassion ahead of the film’s public release.
The screening, aimed at introducing a new, primarily non-Tibetan audience to His Holiness the Great XIV Dalai Lama’s message, brought together a select group of professionals from banking, medicine, academia, and the arts. Among the guests were renowned Tibet supporter Dame Joanna Lumley and family, alongside current and former Representatives of His Holiness in the UK.
The evening began with a welcome video message from Richard Gere, Chairman of the International Campaign for Tibet (ICT) and producer of the film, who encouraged the audience to enjoy this “special” film.
As the credits rolled, the cinema filled with applause, reflecting the audience’s appreciation for the film’s timely message of hope and compassion in a conflict-ridden world.
A brief Q&A session followed, with the Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in the UK and the Secretary of the Office of Tibet, London addressing reflections and questions from the audience. Many shared how deeply moved they were by His Holiness’s wisdom and emphasised the importance of sharing these messages widely, particularly with younger generations.
Two further screenings are planned, including one dedicated to the Tibetan community in the UK in the coming weeks.
