
Dharamshala: The leadership and staff of the Central Tibetan Administration held a memorial service this afternoon to mourn the demise of civil servant Khando Yankyi Seykhang, who served as a peon at the Public Service Commission. The late Khando Yankyi passed away on Sunday, 26 January 2025.
After presenting a brief biography of the deceased by Cabinet Secretary Tsegyal Chukya Dranyi, he conveyed his sadness at the painful news. He asked everyone to offer prayers for the departed staff.
The prayer service was attended by Deputy Speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang, Kalon (Minister) Dolma Gyari of the Department of Security (DoS), Kalon (Minister) Norzin Dolma of the Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR), Chief Election Commissioner Lobsang Yeshi, Public Service Commissioner Karma Yeshi, members of the 17th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, along with secretaries and civil servants of the Central Tibetan Administration.
Brief bio of the Deceased:
Khando Yankyi Seykhang was born on 7 August 1973 to her late parents, Dawa Tsering and Kunsang Yeshi. She began her service in the Central Tibetan Administration on 4 August 1997, starting a six-month probationary period as a peon in the Office of the Auditor General. On 21 February 1998, she was appointed as a permanent staff member.
On 18 June 2003, she was transferred to the Office of the Parliamentary Secretariat as a peon and later reassigned to the Public Service Commission on 25 January 2019, where she continued to serve until her passing.
On 22 December 2024, Khando Yankyi sustained a leg injury. Following medical advice, she took one month of medical leave, which was then followed by two months of annual leave for recovery. She passed away around 01:30 a.m. on 26 January 2025.
She is survived by her husband and two sons.
